11 February 2016
Hong Kong is world-renowned for its tailors and outfitters – suiting and booting tens of thousands of men each year. Whether you are on a layover, a business trip, or are looking for the perfect wedding suit, there is a tailor out there waiting just for you. However, it can be a daunting task navigating your way through those made-to-measure waters, so we’ve done the leg-work (!) for you. Here are our favourite men's tailors in Hong Kong:
A family-run tailor shop established in 1983 by brothers Andy and Anthony Asaf, Empire Tailors is one of Hong Kong’s best loved outfitters. With a loyal customer base from around the world, their very own in-house workshop next to their store in East Tsim Sha Tsui is always buzzing. Empire has a small team of tailors highly experienced in their craft, who have been with the company since the beginning. Priding themselves on quality and craftsmanship they believe a beautiful suit should be lovingly prepared and they try to avoid rush orders so they can provide customers with a suit that will last a lifetime. Highly rated by The New York Times, USA Today and more, Empire’s reputation is well exceeded outside of Hong Kong. Empire's head Master tailor Anthony Asaf often travels abroad to cities in the US, Canada, and Australia to meet with custom suit enthusiasts who book up fitting appointments each day of his visit. The company’s approach involves working closely with its customers to design their own custom clothing with a careful 2-3 fittings before completion.Tailors typically request clients to bring pictures which represent the look they are going for, and as much time as possible to guarantee the best results.
Suits at Empire International Tailors start at HK $4672, Shirts at HK $399.
Maxwell’s Clothiers has been an integral part of the fashion scene since 1961. A-Man Hing Cheong has kept an exclusive stock of over 1,000 samples to help you choose the right style for you. They specialize in traditional bespoke ‘English-style’ suits and shirting, and have been in the biz for over a hundred years.
